Ever since the clocks went back, I have been trying to make the most out of every single minute of duvet warmth on these bitterly cold mornings, before tip-toeing my way like a meerkat to the heating switch and whacking it up on high.
If I am being completely honest, I am still trying to get over the fact that summer has ended. I am pretty sure some of you can relate. I swear it was only the other day I was popping out on the town in just a thin jacket? You don’t really hear of anyone going on late-summer weekend trips now, as the closest anyone can get to get some proper hot sun is Dubai.
And before you know it, Halloween has come and gone (I got ZERO trick or treaters at my house this year, which meant that I had been stuffing myself with cheap over-seasoned crisps and tacky tasteless chocolate every day for the last few days), Guy Fawkes night flashed by (No, I did not go out to watch the fireworks as I did not want to miss Matt Terry on The X Factor), the gloves and bobble hats have started to make a fashionable return once again on the London street scene (I have just ordered mine for this year – Veil beanie), and I even had to stop for 15 minutes in traffic the other day as the local Council put up Christmas lights on lamp posts. The Starbucks Red Cups are out, my coffee shop is blasting out “All I want for Christmas” in the mornings, the outdoor ice rinks across town are magnificently lit and I just booked to go watch ‘Love Actually’ at the Backyard Cinema’s Winter Night Garden in mid-December! I passively knew Christmas was coming, because my local Tesco Extra had been selling mince pies since July, but it really is upon us now. Wow, just wow.
I had been totally absent on this blog since the summer, and for my loyal readers far and wide (especially my friends in Japan), I deeply apologise. Those that know me would know that after 7 years at my old company, I have started a new job at a new firm, and for the first time in a very long time, I can say that I am thoroughly enjoying it.
Sometimes people need change, right?
Sometimes when you finally pluck up the courage to make a big change in your life, it fills your soul with a renewed sense of energy, drive, excitement, passion and the willingness to really want to make something out of it.
This is exactly what I have done, and I cannot believe I didn’t do it sooner.
Now, a few months into my new job, I am delighted to say that I am finding my feet and taking every positives from each day into my stride.
However, my commitment to work lately has meant that I have not seen my friends or gone out on any dates in absolutely forever!
I get asked on restaurant recommendations ALL the time from my friends, to the point that I get told that I am literally a Walking Time-Out.
With it approaching a season of goodwill and happiness, I thought I would use this opportunity to share with you my deep secrets and desire list of my favourite date night places… just for you! This post is not sponsored, it is purely my list of my most favourite places I genuinely have gone to, still love to go, still adore, and that I can highly recommend.
Next time you’re planning a date night, have these little dinner+bar combination at back of your minds, and you will be given a gold star from whoever you are planning on impressing!
