Barcelona: La Boqueria Market
Barcelona is a dream for foodies like you and me.
I knew Spanish food was good, but it had totally escaped me that it was THIS good.
I don’t tend to have Spanish food when in London, not sure why, I guess London is awash with so many other options. This could be a reason why it took me by total surprise when I had some delicious tapas at La Pepita, and saw countless other little bars serving tasty food offerings to go with your hours of socialising over sangria. I could really get to fall in love with this place.
Spain with its abundance of sunshine over the summer months, it is blessed with some of the world’s best fresh produce. This was most evident when we stumbled across Plaça de la Boqueria, just off La Rambla, and is a HUGE food market. I literally squealed in delight, and my friend had to literally hold me back to make sure I didn’t run everywhere and lose me for good in amongst the ham and fruit.
There was a meat section, fish section, fresh fruit, olives, chocolates and sweets… I cannot tell you how much I was in awe of this place. I don’t need to do the talking… let these photos give you a snapshot of just what I mean!
Are you drooling as much as I am having looked through all those yummy pictures?!
As I was browsing around, I thought the next time I come to Barcelona, I would love to get a chef’s kitchen apartment through Airbnb and cook a feast for a group of friends after food shopping here. Wouldn’t that be amazing? Who’s in?! Comment below with what you’d like me to cook.
